Our Lady of Guadalupe Church

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Guadalupe,

     The month of November has always been a time to especially remember our loved ones who have gone before us. We began this month with All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day. Many visited the graves of their family members. We light a candle in their memory. We have a Mass of remembrance for them. It is so important for us never to forget those who were part of our life.

    The Readings for this Sunday remind us of what we believe about life here after. St. Paul writing to the Thessalonians tells us: “We do not want you to be unaware about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if you           believe that Jesus died and rose, so shall God through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep”.

    The Gospel reminds us to be prepared for we do not know when the Lord will call us. We don’t know when we will die. How would each of us live differently if we knew the day and the hour? I have often thought what a different world it would be if everyone knew they would face the Lord soon. The wars, violence and hatred that we see in our world would be meaningless. What would be                  important is my relationship with God and those I love. 

    Let us live each day fully for the Lord and never forget, as St. Paul tells us, that our real citizenship is in heaven.

BIBLE SHARING

           Weekly Wednesday Bible sharing after the 7A.M. Mass. The meeting is held in the St. Jude Hall. All are invited to attend and participate.

Legion of Mary has begun again. We meet in the St. Jude Hall on Mondays at 6PM. You can enter through the St. Jude Hall door on Basin Street. All are most welcome to join us.
