Our Lady of Guadalupe Church

    Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Guadalupe,

     The opening words of Jesus in the Gospel today is: “Fear no one”!  Jesus is speaking to His disciples knowing well what they are going to face. They will find persecution and martyrdom. It will not be easy saying they are followers of Jesus.

     I couldn’t help but think that these words of Jesus are true today. Trying to follow Jesus isn’t easy. We may not face the same type of persecution as the early Christians, but we may face other types of persecution for standing up for what we believe. 

    Fear is something that we all face in life. Jesus is well aware of what we all experience each day. All of us have fears. We have fear of sickness, fear of loss of a loved one, fear of rejection, fear of hurricanes. All of us have our own personal fears. Jesus says: “Fear is Useless, what is needed is trust”. It is when we are confronted by fear, that we are called to trust more. The psalms reminded us of trust. Psalm 27: “The Lord is my Light and my Salvation, whom shall I fear”? Luke, Chapter 12: “Be not afraid: you are worth more than many sparrows”. 

    As we turn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us bring our fears before Him. Jesus tells us: “Come to Me all of you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will give you rest and courage”.

    May the Sacred Heart of Jesus provide you with the peace and strength you need.

           Weekly Wednesday Bible sharing after the 7A.M. Mass. The meeting is held in the St. Jude Hall. All are invited to attend and participate.

Legion of Mary has begun again. We meet in the St. Jude Hall on Mondays at 6PM. You can enter through the St. Jude Hall door on Basin Street. All are most welcome to join us.
